kiransingh:

the only domestic instinct my parents have managed to pass on to me is the tendency to hoard multiple plastic bags in another plastic bags despite the fact that I will probably never need this many plastic bags in my adult life

Something cool I learned about a while ago for sixpenceee since she requested more sciencey things in her tag!
Frost Flowers
A product of wind, plants, and the perfect weather conditions, frost flowers are delicate formations of wispy ice that appear on the edges of twigs and blades of grass during winter. It’s extremely rare to see them in person because of how thin they are, and even the light from the rising sun is strong enough to melt them.

Guy on train:
I'd fuck you if you didn't have so many tattoos.
Me:
*turns up music*
Guy:
I said I'd fuck you if you didn't have so many tattoos!
Me:
*takes off headphones* Leave. Me. Alone.
Guy:
Why the fuck do you have so many tattoos?
Me:
Guy:
Are you fucking deaf as well as a piece of trash?
Lady by door:
Hey. Leave her alone.
Guy:
Are you her trash girlfriend? Fucking dykes, all tattooed like fucking men. Disgusting waste of pussy.
Lady:
*moves forward, carefully moves jacket so only I can see the badge on her belt* Are you okay?
Me:
Fine. Just wish he'd go away.
Lady cop:
I can make that happen.
Guy:
Oh, yeah, bitch? Who the fuck are you? I'll kill you!
Lady cop:
And that's what I was waiting for. *grabs guy, holds him against the door* Harassing women on the train was enough, but you just threatened a cop. You're battin' a thousand tonight.
Entire train:
*applauds*

dietchola:

i’m terrified of lady bugs because when i was 10 my bathroom got infested by them and they laid eggs in my shower but i didn’t know that so when i went to take a shower one time i turned on the water and thousands of lady bugs came flying out of the drain and i sat in the bathtub and i cried

This is so cool! But what country are they from? “Africa” is really vague.

Their names are Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola and they’re from Lagos, Nigeria. There’s a neat video about them here.

#when will people start giving names to young non-white scientists??#bc that shit is getting old

boost the fuck out of this, and make sure you include their goddamn names and country of origin.
